Lake
Buena Vista Information:
Directions: approximately 25 miles
southwest of Bakersfield, CA, off I-5 onto Highway 119,
then about two miles south on Highway 43.
History: Buena Vista is a manmade site,
completed in April, 1973, when it took 43 days to fill
both Lake Evans and the much larger Lake Webb with over
2,300,000,000 gallons (or 6,800 acre feet) of water.
Activities: Boating (max. of 300 boats)
jet skiing (max. of 125 jet ski), fishing, camping (for
families and large groups), picnicing, and bicycling.
Amenities: Several attractive installations
of children's play equipment, one in the shape of a
giant toy soldier, two concession buildings, three covered
picnic areas reserved for large groups (400 capacity)
or small groups (100 capacity), numerous other picnic
spots throughout the park, three boat launching sites
and an RV dump station.
