FAQs
We recognize that there are a lot of issues to take
into account when choosing a wakeboard school. We hope
this section will help guide you through your decision
making process, and answer any questions you might have.
If you still have any questions, or simply want to speak
to the schools owners, feel free to give us a call or
email us.
*We also have gift certificates available upon request*
Where
are you located?
Westside Wakeboard School is located in Bakersfield,
California. We operate on Buena Vista lake.
Are you willing to travel to other places to give lessons?
Yes, we realize that not everyone is able to take lessons
on Buena Vista Lake, so we are willing to travel to
different areas to give lessons. (Additional fees may
apply.)
When are the lessons taught?
The school is in session various days during the week,
and occasionally on the weekends. We work around your
schedule so please contact us when you want to make
an appointment.
How much will I get to ride?
You will get to ride as much as the day will allow.
We do not put time limits on pulls, however we will
ensure that each rider gets equal riding time.
What is the water like?
We enjoy smooth water all week long because everyone
else is working while we are out having fun. The water
temperature stays in the 70’s to 80's throughout
the summer, so no wet suit is needed
What kind of equipment is available?
We offer all top of the line equipment including wakeboards
and bindings from CWB and Skiwarm. Ropes and handles
from Proline and Accurate, and neoprene life vests.
What is the wake like?
The wake can easily be changed from a small beginner
wake, to a Pro Tour caliber wake with just a flip of
the switch. With the addition of the Wake Plate, the
wake will have a lip that will give you the extra height
needed for even the biggest tricks.
Is there an age limit for lessons?
No, we welcome children and adults of any age
What type of boat do you use?
When you ride with WWS, we use only the best. Our Supra
21V is dialed in with a tower, ballast tanks, Wake Plate,
and a killer sound system.
Who’s boat do we use?
We offer lessons on our boat or on yours. We also offer
a discount for lessons taught on your boat. Please check
out our different packages for more info.
What should I bring to the lesson?
All you need to bring is yourself! We have sunscreen
on the boat, towels, water & other refreshments.
You can bring your own gear, or use some of the demo
equipment we have on site.
What are the instructors like?
All of our instructors are friendly and great teachers.
They are all experienced, and are also very good wakeboarders
so if you want to see some cool tricks, just let them
know before the lesson.
Am I good enough to take a lesson?
There is no prerequisite to taking a lesson with us.
We have taught first time wakeboarders as well as highly
advanced riders. Actually the less you know, the better
your chances of advancing quickly. If you don't have
any old habits, things will be that much easier.
Will I be in the boat while others ride or do
I get dropped off on shore after my set?
All Wakeboarders get to stay in the boat until everyone’s
set is over. This way everyone can watch and learn from
each other. Plus listening to the instructor teaching
other students will most likely help you pick things
up you may have not learned during your set.
Is the school safe?
We focus on safety as our primary concern. We take our
time with each student just as if they were one of our
family members. We want everyone to feel safe and leave
with a smile on their face.
